Halter Tie Top - Sewing Pattern

Halter Tie Top - Sewing Pattern

$9.00

The Halter Tie Top is a slightly draped cowl halter top with an adjustable neck and low-waist ties. It can be tied tightly for a fitted look or worn more loosely for a relaxed look.

The pattern includes optional bust darts to help shape the top for different chest sizes. Because bust placement varies from person to person, I recommend trying on the garment before finalizing dart placement to achieve your ideal fit. Small adjustments may be needed to get your perfect result. :)

Pair it with The Staple Shorts or The Everyday Pants!

Additional Information

  • Recommended Fabrics
This top works best in lightweight woven fabrics with fluid drape to complement the soft cowl shape.

    Some ideal options:
    - Rayon or viscose (for that soft, drapey look)
    - Silk or satin (for a more elevated, going-out feel)
    - Lightweight linen, cotton or linen blends (for a slightly more relaxed version)

Fabrics with movement will highlight the drape of the neckline, while more structured fabrics will create a sharper, more defined shape.

    Fabric Feel Guide
If you want it to feel:
    - Soft & drapey → rayon or viscose
    - Elevated & sleek → silk or satin
    - Relaxed & casual → linen, cotton, linen blends

    Yardage Requirements (54”–60” wide fabric)
    - XS–M: 1 1/4 yards main + 1 1/4 yards lining
    - L–2XL: 1 1/2 yards main + 1 1/2 yards lining

    Pro Tip
Add embellishments to the hem like beads, lace, or fringe!

  • The Halter Tie Top came from wanting something that felt a little more elevated but still easy.

I loved the idea of a top that could instantly make an outfit feel styled, without needing much else. Something you could throw on with a simple pair of shorts or jeans and still feel put-together.

But I also didn’t want it to feel complicated to make.

So this design became a balance of both.

The soft cowl neckline adds that draped, effortless feel, while the adjustable ties let you control the fit whether you want it more relaxed or pulled in and fitted.

It’s one of those pieces that looks like you spent time styling it… even when you didn’t. And that’s always the goal.
